I need help selecting a power supply for my amd x4 phenom that i want to overclock to 3.1ghz?Posted by admin in questions and answersPlease tell me the wattage i need to do this and a recommendation on which I should buy. Extra info is : asus crosshair formula 2 motherboard, GeForce 9800 gtx +, Wd 1tb caviar black hdd, 4gb of ram. Might install more things like an extra hdd and graphics card sound sensitive cathode lights . get a 1.5 KWH PSU then anything you add will be excellent to go
excellent luck OC an AMd as they are already over clocked to usually max speed
but make sure you have excellent cooling too like a VAPOCHILL lightspeed

At least 600 walts. more if possible, And make sure to place some dang excellent cooling in that box.

if you will add another graphic card then more ..700+
Somewhere along the 600W power supplies should work. But the more vital is the actual rails found in the PSU. There are even 400W PSUs that can run the hardware you specified because they have enough volts in certain rails, like the +12V rails.
Lastly, the PSU should not affect your overclock capabilities.
